Opposition MP Probes Alleged Local Government Exam Fraud

Opposition MP Rangsiman Rome has intensified his investigation into alleged corruption surrounding local government recruitment examinations. According to Thai Post, Rome is invoking legal authority to summon Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Naruecha, and the President of Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) to provide testimony before the House Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights.

Rome expressed frustration over the lack of cooperation from the Ministry of Interior, noting that representatives have repeatedly failed to appear for questioning. He highlighted testimony from the SWU President, which suggests that discussions regarding the exam process may have been bypassed. Furthermore, Rome claims to have uncovered evidence linking financial transactions to over 70 individuals, suggesting the potential involvement of high-ranking officials. He also criticized the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for its slow progress, citing a lack of funding for equipment needed to verify exam papers.
