Thailand Mandates Public Driver Licenses for App-Based Transport by September 30

The Thailand Government Public Relations Department has issued a formal reminder that all individuals operating vehicles for ride-hailing applications must possess a valid public driver's license by September 30, 2026. This regulatory enforcement follows a significant surge in demand, with official statistics indicating that applications for public driver's licenses have increased more than threefold.

To accommodate this rapid rise in applicants, the Department of Land Transport has announced a special initiative to process licenses on Saturdays. Specifically, services will be available on Saturday, September 26, at the Bangkok Land Transport Office Area 5.
