Severe Flooding Hits Phichit Province Following Heavy Rainfall
Heavy rains and flash floods have impacted seven districts in Phichit, damaging hundreds of homes and forcing the closure of two schools.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 24, 2026, Phichit Province is currently facing significant flooding caused by persistent heavy rainfall and subsequent flash floods. The disaster has affected 13 sub-districts across seven districts, including Wachirabarami and Sam Ngam.
Local authorities, led by Ms. Sukanya Tontun of the Phichit Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, confirmed that 274 households have been inundated by floodwaters. As a precautionary measure to ensure student safety, two schools have been ordered to close temporarily. Emergency response teams are currently deployed in the affected areas to provide urgent assistance to residents and manage the impact of the rising water levels.
For residents and travelers in the region, this situation may lead to localized travel disruptions, road closures, and potential hazards in low-lying areas.
