Bhumjaithai MP Urges Action on Ayutthaya Flooding

On September 24, 2026, during a parliamentary session, Bhumjaithai Party MP Padith Sangkhajai raised concerns regarding the recurring flood crisis in Ayutthaya province. Addressing the government, Padith noted that while initial forecasts for 2026 suggested a lower risk of flooding, recent conditions have led to significant concerns among local residents.

Representing Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office Paradorn Prisanananthakul responded to the inquiry. He explained that the increased water discharge from the Chao Phraya River is a direct result of heavy rainfall and the influx of northern runoff. Paradorn emphasized that the government is focusing on a 'fishbone' water management strategy, which involves diverting water into tributaries and designated flood-receiving areas to reduce the volume flowing downstream from the dam.
