Military Deployed to Assist Flood-Affected Areas in Ayutthaya
The Royal Thai Armed Forces have dispatched rapid response units to Bang Ban and Sena districts in Ayutthaya to support residents impacted by rising floodwaters.
On September 24, 2026, Colonel Mahithorn Boonkrong, commander of the 15th Mobile Development Unit, visited flood-affected communities in the Bang Ban and Sena districts of Ayutthaya province. According to Khaosod Online, the military has deployed rapid response disaster relief teams to the area to provide immediate assistance to residents.
Currently, flooding has affected four districts in Ayutthaya, with water levels reaching between 30 and 60 centimeters. Approximately 160 households, totaling around 500 people, are impacted by the overflow. The military has distributed drinking water to 40 households and is coordinating with local community leaders to monitor the situation.
For residents and travelers in the region, this indicates that local infrastructure may be compromised by standing water. The military has prepared contingency plans, including the deployment of mobile kitchens, water purification vehicles, and mobile toilets, should the situation escalate. Officials have also instructed teams to prepare evacuation plans for residents if conditions worsen.
While the current impact is localized, those planning to travel through or reside in Ayutthaya should remain cautious of road conditions and follow updates from local authorities. It remains to be confirmed how long the floodwaters will persist and whether additional districts will be affected as the monsoon season continues.
