Thailand Data Center Board Mandates Registration for High-Energy Users
Thailand's Data Center Policy Committee has introduced new registration requirements for facilities consuming 0.5 MW or more of electricity.
According to a report from Prachachat Business, the Data Center Policy Committee has officially approved a new framework for classifying data center operations based on their total electricity consumption. Under the new directive, any facility utilizing 0.5 megawatts (MW) or more of power is now required to register with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES).
This move is part of a broader effort to establish standardized operational benchmarks for the country's growing digital infrastructure sector. The committee has tasked three sub-committees with finalizing these minimum standards, with a deadline set for the end of September 2026.
