Six-Year-Old Chinese Girl Sets New World Record in Rubik’s Cube

According to reports from Khaosod Online and the Associated Press, six-year-old Lian Yunzhi has officially set a new world record for the fastest average time in the women’s 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube category. During a competition in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Lian achieved an average time of 4.27 seconds. This performance makes her the only female speedcuber to record an average time under 4.50 seconds, surpassing her own previous record of 4.52 seconds set earlier in September at a World Cube Association (WCA) sanctioned event in Wuhan.

Lian, who began practicing at age four with an initial time of 90 seconds, has reportedly memorized over 1,300 solving algorithms. Her mother, Lin Yangxi, noted that the sport has significantly boosted her daughter's confidence, transforming her from a shy child into a more outgoing individual.
