Thai Government Announces Transition Plan for Uthen Thawai Campus Students
Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat has unveiled a support plan for Uthen Thawai students, including temporary study facilities and access to laboratory equipment at other campuses.
On September 23, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Yodchanan Wongsawat, announced new measures to assist students of the Uthen Thawai campus during its relocation process. According to Khaosod Online, the government is addressing challenges faced by students currently studying via online systems, particularly those struggling with internet connectivity or inadequate dormitory environments.
To mitigate these issues, the university has designated the main conference hall at the Chakrabongse Bhuvanarth campus as a study space for students starting September 24, 2026. Furthermore, for practical coursework, the MHESI is coordinating with Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) campuses across Bangkok to allow Uthen Thawai students to utilize their laboratory facilities. The ministry is also exploring the possibility of renting buildings near industrial estates as a medium-term solution for classroom space. Financial assistance will be provided to students and faculty members to help cover costs associated with moving dormitories.
For residents and those involved in the local education sector, this transition marks a significant shift in campus operations. While these immediate measures aim to stabilize the academic environment, details regarding the long-term permanent location for the campus and the full timeline for the transition remain to be confirmed by the ministry.
