A severe weather alert has been issued for Thailand from September 23 to 27, 2026, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple regions.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has released its fifth announcement regarding severe weather conditions expected across the country from September 23 to 27, 2026. According to the report, a strong low-pressure system moving from the coast of central Vietnam is expected to cover the lower Northeast, East, and Central regions, including Bangkok and its surrounding areas. This system, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon, will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to the North, Northeast, Central, East, and South of Thailand.
Residents and travelers are advised to exercise extreme caution, as the continuous heavy rain poses a significant risk of flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in low-lying areas and regions near hillsides. Authorities have specifically warned against traveling through areas prone to recurring flooding. Furthermore, maritime conditions are expected to deteriorate, with wave heights in the upper Gulf of Thailand and the upper Andaman Sea projected to reach between 2 and 3 meters.
While the TMD has identified the affected regions, the specific intensity and exact path of the low-pressure system may evolve.
