PTT and Krungsri Finalize Landmark 4.8 Billion Baht Sustainability Loan
PTT Public Company Limited has secured its first-ever sustainability-linked loan of 4.8 billion baht from Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) to fund environmental and educational initiatives.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, PTT Public Company Limited and Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) have officially entered into a sustainability-linked loan agreement worth 4.8 billion baht. This marks the first transaction of its kind for PTT, with Krungsri serving as the sole lender and sustainability finance advisor.
The funds are earmarked for key sustainability projects, specifically focusing on forest restoration and the advancement of science and technology education. PTT intends to utilize the capital to support the Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) and the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC). This initiative aligns with PTT’s 48th-anniversary celebrations and its broader corporate strategy to balance business growth with environmental stewardship and social development.
For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this development highlights the increasing integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into the operations of major national corporations. While this loan signals a commitment to long-term ecological and educational investment, the specific timelines for the completion of the forest restoration projects and the measurable impact of the educational funding remain to be confirmed as the initiatives progress. This financial move reflects a growing trend in the Thai corporate sector toward sustainable financing models.
