ADB Adjusts Thailand's Economic Growth Forecasts for 2026 and 2027

The Asian Development Bank has revised Thailand's GDP growth projections, citing strong exports and private investment for 2026, while anticipating a slight slowdown in 2027.

In its September 2026 Asian Development Outlook report, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has updated its economic growth forecasts for Thailand. The ADB has raised its 2026 GDP growth projection to 2.0%, up from the 1.8% estimate issued in July. This upward revision is attributed to robust performance in technology-related exports, stronger-than-expected private sector investment, and ongoing government support measures.

Conversely, the outlook for 2027 has been adjusted downward to 1.9%, compared to the previous forecast of 2.0%. The ADB suggests this shift is due to an expected cooling in global demand for technology products, which may subsequently impact Thailand's export sector. Regarding inflation, the ADB has lowered its 2026 forecast to 2.5%, down from 2.9% in July, noting that government interventions have helped mitigate the economic impact of conflicts in the Middle East.

For residents and travelers, these figures indicate a stable but cautious economic environment. While the current year shows resilience, the projected slowdown in 2027 suggests potential shifts in trade-related sectors. It remains to be confirmed how global market fluctuations and potential environmental factors, such as the El Niño phenomenon mentioned in local reports, might further influence these projections in the coming months. These updates provide a snapshot of Thailand's economic trajectory as reported by the ADB.
