Thai Ministry of Defence Reports Strong Interest in Volunteer Soldier Program
The Thai Ministry of Defence has announced that nearly 10,000 people have applied for the volunteer soldier program in just 13 days, with plans to prioritize these recruits for future non-commissioned officer training.
According to a report by Thai Post on September 23, 2026, the Thai Ministry of Defence is seeing significant interest in its volunteer soldier recruitment drive. Within the first 13 days of the campaign, 9,607 individuals have applied, leading officials to express confidence that the program will meet its target of 25,000 recruits.
The Ministry highlighted that the program offers a total monthly income of approximately 15,000 baht. A key incentive for applicants is the Ministry's stated intention to transition to a system where 100% of future non-commissioned officers (NCOs) are selected from this pool of volunteer soldiers, providing a clear career path for those who enlist.
