Bangkok Governor Monitors Rainfall, Declares Situation Under Control
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has stated that the city's current rainfall situation is not critical, though districts remain on alert following weather warnings.
On September 23, 2026, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt addressed concerns regarding heavy rainfall forecasts for the capital. Following a warning from the Thai Meteorological Department regarding heavy to very heavy rain expected between September 23 and 27, the Governor confirmed that the situation is currently within normal parameters and not at a critical stage.
To mitigate potential flooding, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has proactively inspected flood-prone areas, including Soi Senanikom 1 and Soi Ramintra 5. Governor Chadchart emphasized that district offices have been instructed to clear debris from drainage pipes, a measure taken after previous rainfall events were exacerbated by blockages. Regarding water levels, the Governor noted that the volume of water flowing from the north is currently at 1,500 cubic meters per second, which is not considered excessive.
For residents and travelers, this means that while the city is preparing for potential heavy downpours, there is no immediate emergency.
