GPSC and South Korea’s KHNP Partner to Explore Small Modular Nuclear Reactors in Thailand

According to a report by Prachachat Business, GPSC has entered into a strategic partnership with South Korea’s state-owned Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP). The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to conduct a joint feasibility study on the implementation of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology within Thailand.

This collaboration aims to explore the potential for integrating advanced nuclear energy solutions into Thailand’s power grid as part of a broader transition toward clean energy. Beyond the initial feasibility study, the agreement encompasses potential future cooperation regarding investment opportunities and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services. The initiative is intended to facilitate knowledge transfer and enhance technical expertise, preparing the local energy sector for the potential adoption of nuclear power to support long-term industrial and economic growth.
