Thailand Mandates GPS Tracking for Foreign Commercial Vehicles

According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Thai Department of Land Transport (DLT) is implementing stricter regulations for foreign commercial vehicles operating within the country. Sorapong Paitoonphong, Director-General of the DLT, stated that as Thailand expands its cross-border transport agreements to boost logistics efficiency and trade, there has been a notable increase in foreign cargo and passenger vehicles entering the kingdom.

To manage this growth, the DLT has issued a formal announcement requiring all foreign transport vehicles entering Thailand to be equipped with GPS-based travel data recorders. This measure is intended to enhance road safety, ensure compliance with international transport frameworks, and create a level playing field for Thai transport operators. By monitoring these vehicles, authorities aim to better regulate cross-border traffic, particularly as the volume of agricultural and commercial goods transport continues to rise.
