Residents and commuters in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya face significant travel disruptions as water levels in the Noi and Chao Phraya rivers surge following increased dam discharge.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 23, 2026, residents living along the Noi River in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya are experiencing severe flooding after water levels rose rapidly overnight. The Chao Phraya Dam has increased its discharge rate to 1,620 cubic meters per second, causing water levels in local rivers and canals to climb by as much as one meter in some areas.
In the Bang Ban and Sena districts, significant increases were recorded, with the water level at the Sena market rising 44 centimeters, leaving it just 0.39 meters below the bank. The rapid influx of water has forced residents to switch from walking to using boats for daily travel. The flooding has also disrupted local logistics, as delivery personnel are unable to access homes in several riverside communities.
For residents and travelers, this situation indicates a high risk of road closures and restricted access to riverside areas.
