A report by Bnomics reveals that Thai outbound travel reached a historic peak of 13.06 million trips in 2025, with total spending hitting 559 billion baht.
According to a report from the Bnomics research team at Bangkok Bank, Thai outbound tourism experienced unprecedented growth in 2025. Data indicates that 13.06 million Thai residents traveled abroad, marking an 11.4% increase compared to the previous year. This surge in travel resulted in a total expenditure of 559 billion baht, a significant 29.5% rise.
On average, Thai travelers spent approximately 1.53 billion baht per day, or roughly 42,790 baht per trip. The research highlights that this trend extends beyond the influence of visa-free policies, such as the 'China Effect,' suggesting a broader recovery and expansion in international travel demand. China emerged as the top destination, attracting 3.06 million Thai visitors.
For residents and travelers, this data underscores a robust appetite for international exploration among the Thai population, which may influence travel costs, flight availability, and tourism infrastructure in popular regional destinations.
