Thai Health Promotion Foundation Addresses AI Bias Against Ethnic Groups
The Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and partners held a forum to discuss the impact of AI on ethnic identity and the risks of digital bias.
On September 23, 2026, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), in collaboration with Cofact Thailand and International Media Support (IMS), hosted the 36th Digital Thinkers Forum. The event, titled 'Ethnic Citizen Identity in the AI Era: Bias and Reality in Thailand,' focused on how artificial intelligence can inadvertently amplify societal prejudices against ethnic groups.
According to Khaosod Online, experts at the forum highlighted that AI systems rely on source data; if that data lacks diversity or contains inherent biases, the technology can perpetuate and widen existing stereotypes. Yannee Ratchborirak, Director of the Office of Media and Intellectual Health Promotion at ThaiHealth, emphasized that the rapid speed of AI-generated content is not the only concern. Instead, the focus must be on creating a 'safe media ecosystem' and improving digital literacy to ensure that technology serves as a tool to reduce inequality rather than a mechanism for exclusion.
