The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for 41 provinces, including Bangkok, due to heavy rainfall and potential flash floods.
On September 23, 2026, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather alert covering 41 provinces across Thailand. The forecast indicates that 80% of these areas will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, driven by a strong low-pressure system moving from the coast of Vietnam through Cambodia, combined with a monsoon trough and moderate southwest monsoon winds.
Residents and travelers in the lower Northeast, lower Central region, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the South are advised to exercise extreme caution. The TMD warns of potential flash floods, forest runoff, and landslides, particularly in low-lying areas and regions near mountain slopes. Travelers are urged to avoid routes prone to recurring flooding.
Marine conditions are also affected, with moderate waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand reaching approximately 2 meters, and exceeding 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
