A man choking on a meatball at a restaurant in Nong Phai, Phetchabun, was saved by an off-duty hospital staff member.
On September 22, 2026, a dramatic incident occurred at a restaurant located within the Nong Phai Hospital area in Phetchabun province. According to a report by Khaosod Online, a male customer began choking after consuming only three bites of his noodle dish. The man stood up and alerted the restaurant owner, Ampika Plueaisri, a medical technician at the hospital, that a meatball was lodged in his throat.
Fortunately, a hospital staff member who had received training in emergency airway obstruction procedures was present at the establishment. The staff member intervened immediately, successfully dislodging the obstruction and ensuring the man’s safety. Following the incident, the customer reportedly returned to his table to finish his meal, stating he was still hungry.
