Major Fire Engulfs Rice Mill Warehouse in Phetchaburi
A massive fire at the Thawee Ruam Mit rice mill warehouse in Phetchaburi remains partially uncontrolled after more than five hours of firefighting efforts.
On September 22, 2026, a significant fire broke out at the Thawee Ruam Mit rice mill warehouse, located in Ban Samrong, Phetchaburi Province. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the blaze began around 12:55 PM. Despite the deployment of over 50 fire engines from local administrative organizations, rescue foundations, and neighboring provinces including Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Songkhram, and Bangkok, authorities had not fully contained the fire as of 6:30 PM.
Phakphat Songwattanayut, Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi, stated that officials are working urgently to suppress the flames. Due to the nature of the warehouse and safety concerns regarding structural integrity, personnel have been restricted from entering the site. To assist in the operation, authorities have requested the deployment of remote-controlled firefighting robots from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Region 4 in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
For residents and travelers in the area, the incident may cause localized traffic disruptions and air quality concerns due to smoke. While the immediate area is cordoned off for safety, individuals are advised to avoid the vicinity of Ban Samrong to allow emergency vehicles clear access. It remains to be confirmed what caused the fire and the full extent of the property damage, as containment efforts are ongoing.
