Government Plans Relocation for Uthen Thawai Campus Amid Dispute
The Ministry of Higher Education is scouting new locations in Bang Phli to relocate Uthen Thawai students following a suspension of classes at the disputed campus site.
On September 22, 2026, Pheu Thai Party spokesperson Suksit Srijomkwan announced that the government is taking active steps to resolve the long-standing campus dispute between Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok (Uthen Thawai Campus) and Pathumwan Institute of Technology. Following a directive from Yotsanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, in-person classes at the disputed site have been suspended for at least three months.
To minimize academic disruption, Minister Yotsanan is scheduled to meet with the university president on September 23 to discuss relocation strategies. On September 24, the Minister will visit the Department of Skill Development in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, to evaluate the feasibility of leasing space for students to continue their studies. The government emphasizes that the primary goal is to reduce conflict while ensuring that educational standards remain consistent or improve following the move.
