The recipient, 33-year-old Phat Chanmia from Roi Et province, had been suffering from chronic kidney failure for six years. He had been undergoing peritoneal dialysis since 2020 after his kidneys ceased to function properly. His father, 55-year-old Narong Chanmia, chose to donate one of his own kidneys to save his son’s life. Following successful coordination between the two medical facilities, the transplant surgery was performed, marking a significant advancement in the surgical capabilities of the Surin provincial medical system.
