Cooperative Promotion Department Plans 500 Million Baht Investment for CDC Hubs

The Department of Cooperative Promotion is allocating 500 million baht to upgrade Cooperative Distribution Centers (CDC) into regional hubs, aiming for 5 billion baht in sales by the end of 2026.

According to a report by Thai Post, the Department of Cooperative Promotion (DCP) has announced a strategic plan to invest over 500 million baht from the Cooperative Development Fund in 2027. The initiative aims to upgrade Cooperative Distribution Centers (CDC) into regional hubs, with plans to establish one to two such centers in each region.

Director-General Niran stated that the department is collaborating with the Land Transport Association of Thailand to secure special logistics rates for these centers. This move is designed to streamline the distribution of cooperative goods and improve supply chain efficiency. The department has set an ambitious target to reach 5 billion baht in total sales through the CDC network by the end of 2026.

For residents and businesses, this development may lead to improved availability and potentially lower costs for locally produced cooperative goods across various regions. It also signals a significant push toward modernizing the cooperative sector's logistics infrastructure.

While the investment and sales targets have been announced, details regarding the specific locations of these regional hubs and the exact timeline for the implementation of the special transport rates remain to be confirmed. Stakeholders are awaiting further announcements on how these hubs will integrate with existing local markets.
