Search and Rescue Underway Following Fishing Boat Sinking in Sattahip
A fishing vessel sank off the coast of Sattahip, Chonburi, resulting in three confirmed deaths and four individuals still missing.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the fishing vessel 'S. Kanchana Waree 888' capsized in the sea near Samae San, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. The incident occurred approximately 40 nautical miles from Laem Pu Chao.
Prasert Pitakorn, Mayor of Samae San and President of the Samae San Fisheries Association, stated that the association was notified of the emergency at approximately 5:00 AM on September 22, 2026. Preliminary information indicates the vessel sank around 10:00 PM the previous night.
Of the 22 crew members on board, 15 have been rescued by nearby fishing boats that responded to the scene. Authorities have confirmed three fatalities, while four individuals remain missing. The Royal Thai Navy and local fishing vessels are currently conducting an ongoing search and rescue operation to locate the missing crew members.
