Thailand Records Historic FDI Inflow of 630 Billion Baht in 2025
Thailand achieved a record-breaking 630 billion baht in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, as the Board of Investment (BOI) shifts focus toward technology and innovation.
According to Khaosod Online, Thailand reached an all-time high in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, securing 630 billion baht. This figure was reported by Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-General of the Board of Investment (BOI), following his attendance at the ASEAN Investment Area Council meeting in Manila on September 19, 2026.
Across the ASEAN region, FDI inflows reached approximately 8.1 trillion baht (246 billion USD) in 2025, marking a 10% increase and outpacing global growth trends. The BOI is now prioritizing the development of high-tech industries, human capital, and research and development (R&D) to sustain this momentum. The strategy aims to navigate global geopolitical uncertainties and supply chain shifts by fostering a green and digital economy.
For residents and business-minded travelers, this influx suggests a strengthening of Thailand’s industrial landscape, particularly in sectors related to advanced technology and sustainable manufacturing. While the record-breaking investment figures are confirmed for 2025, the long-term impact on local job markets and the specific timeline for the implementation of new R&D infrastructure remain to be seen. The government continues to emphasize the necessity of upgrading the local supply chain to support these new industrial waves, which may influence future economic opportunities within the country.
