Fatal Truck Accident in Phatthalung Following Fruit Transport Trip
A six-wheel truck transporting longkong fruit from Yala to Ubon Ratchathani overturned in Phatthalung, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury.
On September 22, 2026, a fatal traffic accident occurred on the Phetkasem Road in the Pa Bon District of Phatthalung Province. According to Khaosod Online, a six-wheel truck carrying a load of longkong fruit overturned near the Wat Pa Bak curve while traveling northbound.
Local authorities, including the Pa Bon Police and Mae Khri rescue teams, arrived at the scene at approximately 3:40 a.m. to find the vehicle overturned on the roadside with fruit scattered across the area. The passenger, identified as 30-year-old Ms. Ornpreeya from Ubon Ratchathani, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, her 34-year-old husband Mr. Pongthep, sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have suggested that rainy weather and slippery road conditions may have contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle. For residents and travelers in the region, this incident serves as a reminder of the increased risks associated with driving on Phetkasem Road during inclement weather, particularly on winding sections. As of now, official confirmation regarding the exact mechanical state of the vehicle and the final police report on the cause of the accident remains pending.
