Thai Senate and Partners Launch 'Safe Food Journey' Initiative
A coalition of Thai government and health organizations has launched a collaborative initiative to improve food safety standards across the entire supply chain.
On September 22, 2026, a coalition including the Thai Senate, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) held a forum titled 'Safe Food Journey' to address food safety standards. The initiative aims to integrate safety protocols across the entire food supply chain, from agricultural production and raw material sourcing to transportation, storage, and final preparation.
Dr. Pairoj Saonuam, Deputy Manager of ThaiHealth, emphasized that ensuring food safety requires four key mechanisms: reliable academic data, public participation in monitoring, rapid information sharing, and effective public communication. The project seeks to elevate standards to ensure that food is not only safe but also nutritionally beneficial for consumers.
