BDI and Matichon Partner to Advance Thai-Language AI

On September 21, 2026, the Big Data Institute (BDI) and Matichon Public Company Limited officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the development of national artificial intelligence infrastructure. According to Khaosod Online, the collaboration aims to integrate Matichon’s extensive database of high-quality news and information into the 'ThaiLLM' project.

This initiative is designed to enhance the ability of AI systems to better comprehend the nuances of the Thai language, local culture, and social context. By creating a centralized data repository, the partners hope to build a more robust AI infrastructure that reflects Thailand's unique linguistic and societal landscape. The agreement was signed by BDI Director Prof. Dr. Teeranee Achalakul and Matichon Managing Director Prap Bunpan at the Matichon headquarters.
