Authorities Seize 41,000 Illegal Electrical Items in Samut Prakan Raid
A joint task force has confiscated over 41,000 non-standard electrical products worth 32.5 million baht during raids on warehouses in Samut Prakan.
On September 21, 2026, a specialized task force known as 'Top Gun,' in collaboration with the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), and local Samut Prakan authorities, conducted raids on two locations suspected of distributing substandard electrical goods.
According to Khaosod Online, the operation resulted in the seizure of 41,161 items with an estimated market value of 32.5 million baht. The products were flagged for lacking the mandatory Thai Industrial Standard (TIS) certification. One of the primary sites inspected was a fulfillment center operated by YYNA International (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bang Sao Thong District.
For residents and travelers, this raid highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to curb the circulation of potentially hazardous, uncertified electrical equipment in the market. Using non-compliant electronics can pose significant safety risks, including fire hazards or electrical malfunctions.
While the immediate inventory has been secured, the investigation is ongoing. Officials are currently working to trace the supply chain, with preliminary reports suggesting the goods may have been imported from neighboring countries. Authorities intend to pursue legal action against those responsible and are expanding the investigation to identify all parties involved in the distribution network.
