Bangkok Announces Seven-Month Nighttime Closure of Prachanukul Intersection Bridge

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced a seven-month maintenance project for the Prachanukul intersection bridge. According to Khaosod Online, the Department of Public Works has contracted the DW Joint Venture to carry out repairs valued at 24.9 million baht. The project aims to address significant deterioration of the bridge's surface, which has reportedly led to frequent accidents for motorists.

Starting September 28, 2026, and continuing through April 7, 2027, the bridge will be closed to traffic nightly between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM. The scope of work includes resurfacing the bridge, repairing expansion joints, upgrading bridge railings, and refreshing traffic markings across the entire structure, including the approach ramps.

For residents and travelers in Bangkok, this closure will necessitate planning alternative routes during late-night hours to avoid potential delays near the Prachanukul intersection. While the BMA intends for these improvements to enhance safety and convenience for commuters, motorists are advised to remain alert to changing traffic conditions during the construction period.
