Free MRT Travel for Foldable Bikes and E-Scooters on World Car Free Day
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is offering free travel for passengers carrying foldable bicycles and electric scooters on four MRT lines this September 22.
In observance of 'World Car Free Day 2026,' the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has announced a special promotion to encourage eco-friendly commuting. On September 22, 2026, passengers who bring foldable bicycles or foldable electric scooters will be permitted to travel free of charge on four major MRT lines.
According to Khaosod Online, this initiative is a collaborative effort between the MRTA and the operators of the Blue, Purple, Yellow, and Pink lines. The participating operators include Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) for the Blue and Purple lines, Eastern Bangkok Monorail (EBM) for the Yellow line, and Northern Bangkok Monorail (NBM) for the Pink line.
For residents and travelers, this one-day event offers a convenient opportunity to integrate cycling or scootering with public transit, potentially reducing reliance on private vehicles. While the promotion aims to promote environmental awareness, passengers should note that this offer is limited to the specified date.
