Thai Health Authorities Launch 'HHA' Initiative to Address Workplace Mental Health
The Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and the Department of Mental Health have introduced the Holistic Health Advisor (HHA) program to combat rising stress and burnout among the workforce.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) has partnered with the Department of Mental Health to launch the 'Holistic Health Advisor' (HHA) initiative. This program aims to establish a support network for employees, addressing physical, mental, and financial well-being in response to increasing workplace stress and burnout.
Data from the Department of Mental Health’s 2025 'Mental Health Check-in' system indicates that 11% of working-age individuals (20–59) experience high stress levels, with that figure rising to 28% among those aged 20–29. Furthermore, a survey by TIMS revealed that 27% of employees continue to work despite mental health struggles, a phenomenon known as 'presenteeism.'
For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this initiative highlights a growing institutional focus on mental health as a critical factor in national economic productivity. While the HHA program seeks to mitigate the long-term impacts of these issues on organizational performance, it remains to be seen how effectively these support networks will be implemented across various private and public sectors. The initiative underscores the importance of mental health awareness in the modern Thai workplace, though specific details regarding the accessibility of these advisors for the general public or foreign workers have yet to be fully clarified.
