GH Bank Launches Unsecured Solar Rooftop Loans
The Government Housing Bank (GH Bank) has introduced a new low-interest loan program for solar rooftop installations, requiring no collateral.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Government Housing Bank (GH Bank) has announced a new credit facility aimed at supporting solar rooftop installations for residential properties. Dr. Mahattana Ampornpisit, Managing Director of GH Bank, stated that the bank is offering loans ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 THB per applicant.
A notable feature of this initiative is that the loans are unsecured, meaning borrowers are not required to provide collateral. Instead, the bank will evaluate loan approvals based on the applicant's electricity usage behavior. The bank maintains that it currently possesses sufficient liquidity to support this program.
For residents in Thailand, this development may be significant for those looking to reduce long-term utility costs through renewable energy adoption without the burden of traditional asset-backed financing. The low-interest nature of the loan is intended to make sustainable home improvements more accessible to a broader segment of the population.
While the bank has confirmed the loan amounts and the criteria regarding electricity usage data, potential applicants should note that specific interest rates and the full list of eligibility requirements have not been detailed in the initial announcement. Interested parties are advised to contact GH Bank directly to confirm the current application process and specific terms.
