Authorities Issue Flood Warning for Chao Phraya River Basin
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has alerted 10 provinces and Bangkok to prepare for rising water levels along the Chao Phraya River.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a warning to 10 provinces and Bangkok regarding potential flooding. Based on data from the Royal Irrigation Department, water flow at the C.2 station in Nakhon Sawan is expected to reach between 1,100 and 1,250 cubic meters per second by September 27, 2026.
To manage this influx, the Chao Phraya Dam will increase its discharge rate to between 700 and 1,000 cubic meters per second. This adjustment is projected to raise water levels by 0.60 to 1.50 meters in low-lying areas outside of flood embankments.
