New 'Treeburiratthaya' Road Project Proposed to Connect Western Thailand

According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thai government has initiated plans for a new 137-kilometer road network named 'Treeburiratthaya.' Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn announced that the project is designed to serve as a shortcut and bypass route connecting the provinces of Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Phetchaburi.

The primary objective of this infrastructure development is to accommodate urban expansion and stimulate economic activity across the western region of Thailand. By providing a more direct route, the road is intended to facilitate smoother travel toward the southern provinces, potentially reducing congestion on existing major highways.

For residents and travelers, this project represents a significant long-term infrastructure improvement that could eventually shorten travel times between these popular western provinces. However, the project is currently in the planning and feasibility stage. Minister Phiphat has directed officials to expedite the study, with a target completion date set for April 2027. As of now, the final route alignment, budget allocation, and construction timeline remain to be confirmed.
