Suspect Arrested in Buriram Following Attempted Assault on Elderly Woman
Police in Buriram have apprehended a 45-year-old man accused of attempting to assault a 67-year-old woman in her kitchen, an incident that sparked local fear.
According to reports from Khaosod Online, police and local residents in Buriram’s Lak Khet sub-district have successfully captured a 45-year-old man suspected of attempting to assault a 67-year-old woman. The incident reportedly occurred on September 16, 2026, when the suspect allegedly dragged the victim into her kitchen with the intent to commit a sexual assault. The victim managed to fight back and escape, subsequently reporting the incident to local authorities.
Following the attack, the suspect remained at large for two days, hiding in a grassy area approximately one kilometer from the village. His presence caused significant alarm among local residents, particularly the elderly and families with children, who reportedly kept their homes locked out of fear of further incidents.
Upon his arrest, the suspect denied the allegations, claiming he was being framed and stating his intention to contest the charges in court. He is currently being held by the Mueang Buriram Police Station for further interrogation and formal processing. For residents and visitors in the area, this case highlights the importance of local vigilance. While the suspect is now in custody, the legal proceedings are ongoing, and the court will ultimately determine the validity of the accusations and the suspect's defense.
