State Railway of Thailand Launches 'Open Access' Rail Freight Pilot

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has initiated a pilot project to test an 'Open Access' rail freight model, according to a report by Thai Post. The project focuses on the route connecting Laem Chabang Port and Nong Khai. Under this initiative, the SRT is collaborating with private sector partners to operate trains, aiming to gather real-world data to refine national logistics strategies.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Suriya Juangroongruangkit, is overseeing the progress of this trial. The primary objective is to integrate this route into a broader regional network, potentially enhancing the efficiency of goods movement across the country.
