Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthumpun announced that the Thai government is drafting a new economic stimulus package to address rising living costs and fuel prices, with a proposal expected next week.
According to Khaosod Online, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpun has confirmed that the Thai government is developing a new economic stimulus package. This initiative aims to support the economy during the final quarter of 2026, following the conclusion of the 'Thai Chuay Thai Plus Phase 2' program.
The government is currently coordinating across multiple ministries—including Finance, Energy, and Industry—to address the challenges posed by rising fuel prices and the cost of living. Officials are evaluating various funding sources, such as the central budget, loans, or the Oil Fuel Fund, to provide relief to citizens and farmers. A concrete proposal is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet for review next week.
Additionally, the Ministry of Commerce is monitoring the impact of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s recent 0.25% interest rate hike on domestic commodity prices.
