Senior Football Team Involved in Fatal Accident in Phrae
A tragic road accident involving a senior football team traveling to a match in Phitsanulok has resulted in two deaths and two serious injuries.
On September 19, 2026, a fatal traffic accident occurred on the Den Chai–Uttaradit road (KM 357+400) in Phrae province, involving a senior football team from Phrae and Nan. According to Khaosod Online, the team was traveling to Phitsanulok for a match scheduled for the following day when a container truck lost control while descending a slope. The container detached from the truck, crossed into the oncoming lane, and struck the team's Honda CR-V.
Emergency responders from the Den Chai Somdej Phra Yupharat Hospital and local rescue associations arrived at the scene to find the vehicle severely damaged. Four individuals were extracted from the wreckage and transported to the hospital. Tragically, two of the passengers, both aged 70, succumbed to their injuries.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the inherent risks associated with heavy vehicle traffic on mountainous routes in Northern Thailand, particularly during the rainy season or on winding descents. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the truck's loss of control.
