Masatada Ishii Appointed as Assistant Coach for Japan Women's National Team
Former Thailand national team head coach Masatada Ishii has been named assistant coach for the Japan women's national football team, effective October 1.
According to Khaosod Online, the Japan Football Association (JFA) has officially appointed Masatada Ishii as an assistant coach for the Japan women's national team, known as Nadeshiko Japan. Ishii, who served as the head coach of the Thailand national team from 2023 to 2025, will begin his new role on October 1, 2026.
Ishii expressed his honor in joining the coaching staff and stated his commitment to supporting head coach Michihisa Kano’s vision to help players reach their full potential. Alongside Ishii, Keisuke Ota has been appointed as a technical staff member.
For residents and football enthusiasts in Thailand, this transition marks the end of Ishii’s tenure with the 'War Elephants' and his return to the Japanese football system. The Nadeshiko Japan squad is scheduled to play friendly matches against Haiti and Germany in October, followed by a match against Brazil in November.
