Early Warning Systems Upgraded Across Six Thai Provinces
The Department of Water Resources has completed maintenance on 50 flood and landslide warning stations to ensure regional safety.
Between September 14 and 19, 2026, the Department of Water Resources (DWR) conducted a comprehensive inspection and maintenance operation for early warning systems in high-risk areas. Officials focused on 50 field stations located in steep terrain and foothills across six provinces: Chaiyaphum (29 stations), Khon Kaen (8), Loei (4), Phetchabun (3), Kalasin (3), Maha Sarakham (2), and Roi Et (1).
According to the DWR, all 50 stations are now fully operational, achieving a 100% efficiency rating for disaster monitoring. This initiative is intended to provide critical safety coverage for residents across 111 villages in these regions.
For residents and travelers, this maintenance ensures that the automated alert systems are functioning correctly to detect potential flash floods or landslides. While the systems are reported to be in working order, those living in or visiting these mountainous or foothill areas should remain vigilant during heavy rainfall, as early warning systems are supplementary tools and not a guarantee of absolute safety. Local authorities have not indicated any further maintenance requirements at this time, but residents are encouraged to monitor official weather updates from the Thai Meteorological Department for real-time alerts.
