Authorities Raid Two Illegal Gambling Dens in Chiang Mai

On September 18, 2026, a special task force from the Department of Provincial Administration, led by Deputy Interior Minister Phonphir Suwannachawi, executed a raid on two large-scale illegal gambling dens located in the heart of Chiang Mai. According to Khaosod Online, the operation, dubbed 'Prab Sian Nakhon Phing,' resulted in the arrest of over 100 gamblers and operators. Authorities also seized various gambling equipment and cash chips valued at over 2 million baht.
The raid followed directives from Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who has prioritized social order and the suppression of influential figures involved in illegal activities. The Department of Provincial Administration initiated the investigation after receiving numerous complaints from local residents regarding the negative impact of these dens on the community. Investigators confirmed that the facilities were operating 24 hours a day within residential and economic zones.
