The Department of Provincial Administration has clarified that recent restrictions on gun permits are temporary, while proposals regarding long-term license validity remain under review.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thai Department of Provincial Administration has issued a clarification regarding new gun control measures following a Cabinet approval of legislative amendments. The department emphasized that the current suspension of 'P.3' (purchase) and 'P.12' (carry) permits is a temporary measure intended to enhance public safety.
For residents and long-term visitors, this update is significant as it clarifies the status of ongoing regulatory changes. While the suspension of new purchase and carry permits is currently in effect, the department noted that proposals to limit the validity period of 'P.4' (possession) licenses are still under consideration and have not yet been enacted.

This period allows for stakeholder feedback before any permanent changes to the Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, Fireworks, and Imitation of Firearms Act are finalized.
