Police Hunt Suspect Following Attempted Assault in Buriram
Authorities in Buriram are searching for a local man accused of attempting to sexually assault a 67-year-old woman in her home.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, police in Mueang Buriram District are investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred on September 16, 2026. A 67-year-old resident, identified by the pseudonym 'A', filed a formal complaint with the assistance of her village headman on September 18.
The victim reported that she was alone at her home during the morning hours when a local man, identified as 'Pure', approached her. She stated that the suspect forcibly dragged her toward the kitchen, pinned her down, and attempted to remove her clothing. The victim recounted that she resisted the attack with all her remaining strength, eventually causing the suspect to flee the scene.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the importance of maintaining awareness of one's surroundings, particularly in rural or isolated areas where neighbors may be away at community events. While the suspect has been identified by the victim, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are currently working to locate and apprehend the individual to face legal proceedings.
