Deputy Mayor in Uthai Thani Faces Charges Over Sexual Abuse Allegations
A local government official in Uthai Thani has been detained following allegations of long-term sexual abuse against a woman with autism.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a deputy mayor of a sub-district administrative organization (SAO) in Uthai Thani province has been charged by police following a formal complaint. A 49-year-old mother and her 20-year-old daughter, who has autism, filed the report at Lan Sak Police Station on September 18, 2026.
The mother alleges that the abuse began when her daughter was in primary school (Grade 6). At that time, the suspect served as a village headman and was hired by the mother to transport the child to school. The mother claims she only discovered the abuse after her daughter became pregnant at age 15. She further alleged that an initial attempt to resolve the matter privately involved a 30,000-baht settlement.
The suspect has denied the allegations, claiming the relationship was consensual. Police have proceeded with formal charges and have taken the suspect to court to request a detention order.
