On September 18, 2026, the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) announced the arrest of a 21-year-old man, identified as Saharat, at his residence in Kamphaeng Phet province. The arrest follows an outstanding warrant issued by the Criminal Court on August 17, 2026, regarding his alleged role as the leader of a motorcycle theft ring operating across Bangkok and its surrounding provinces.
According to reports from Khaosod Online, the suspect confessed to orchestrating nightly thefts, typically stealing two motorcycles per outing. The investigation suggests that the syndicate successfully smuggled over 100 stolen motorcycles across the border to a financier in Laos, with each vehicle reportedly fetching approximately 25,000 baht.
For residents and travelers, this case highlights ongoing efforts by Thai law enforcement to dismantle organized vehicle theft networks. While the primary suspect is now in custody, the investigation remains active as authorities work to identify the full extent of the smuggling operation and potential accomplices involved in the cross-border trade.
