The South Korean Olympic Committee (KSOC) has lodged a formal protest with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) regarding the welcome ceremony for its athletes at the Nagoya-Aichi 2026 Asian Games. According to Khaosod Online, the controversy arose when organizers arranged a performance by the 'Nagoya Omotenashi Bushotai' group at the Nagoya port, where athletes were boarding the Costa Serena cruise ship designated as their accommodation.

One of the performers was dressed as Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the historical Japanese leader who commanded the invasions of Korea during the Imjin War (1592–1598). The KSOC expressed deep regret and frustration, labeling the inclusion of a figure associated with historical conflict as a significant lapse in cultural and historical sensitivity. The committee argued that such a choice is inappropriate for an international sporting event intended to promote friendship and peace.
