A poignant story of devotion has emerged from Buriram province, where an elderly couple, 70-year-old Sompong Prasongsap and 69-year-old Mak Prasongsap, passed away within two hours of each other on September 18, 2026. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the couple had been life partners for decades.
The sequence of events began when the husband, Sompong, was waiting for his wife, Mak, to return from Nang Rong Hospital. Upon her arrival at their home in Ban Tako, Chaloem Phra Kiat district, the couple lay down next to each other. Within ten minutes of being reunited, Sompong passed away, followed shortly by his wife. The Buriram Highway Police rescue team shared the story online, which quickly drew widespread public sympathy and tributes regarding the couple's enduring bond.
