Ministry of Education Launches 'Safe School' Initiative in Sukhothai
The Ministry of Education has partnered with the House Committee on Disaster Prevention to train students in Thung Saliam on emergency response and digital incident reporting.
On September 18, 2026, the Thai Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the House Committee on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, launched a 'Safe School' initiative at Thung Saliam Chanutupathum School in Sukhothai province. According to Khaosod Online, Assistant Minister of Education Linthiporn Warinvatchararoj led the program, which aims to enhance safety standards across six dimensions of risk.
Over 700 students participated in the training, which focused on disaster preparedness and the use of the 'Traffy EDU' application. This digital tool allows for the reporting of safety incidents within educational institutions, integrating with the broader 'Traffy Fondue' system previously adopted by the Ministry. The event was supported by local MP Praphaporn Thongpaknam, who emphasized the necessity of robust reporting systems to protect students from natural disasters and other public safety threats.
For residents and visitors, this initiative highlights a growing emphasis on digital safety infrastructure in Thai schools. While the program currently focuses on students, the integration of the Traffy system suggests a broader push toward standardized, technology-driven emergency reporting in public spaces. It remains to be confirmed how quickly this specific training model will be expanded to other provinces or if the reporting system will eventually be accessible to the general public for reporting hazards near school zones.
